There are two question types: a yes/no question and a
wh-question.
A yes/no question normally answered by yes or no.
- Do you sell rail tickets? ~ Yes, we do./Certainly.
- Will I need to change? ~No. it's a direct service.
A yes/no question always begins with an auxiliary verb (do,
will).
Sometimes other expressions are used instead of yes or
no.
- Are you leaving before ten 0’clnck? ~I expect so.

Wh-questions
A wh-question bisically begins with a question word.
- When are you travelling? ~ Tomorrow.
- What shall we do? ~ I don’t know.
The question words are Who, What, which, whose, where,
When, Why, How,...etc.
Note:
We can use or in a question.
- Are you coming back today or tomorrow? ~ Today.
- Were you running jogging? ~I was running.
Or can link two clauses.
- Are you coming back today, or are you staying overnight? ~ I'm coming hack today.
The second clause can be the negative of the first one.
- Are you conning back today, or aren’t you? /or not?
- This stresses the need for a yes or no answer and can sound impatient.
