IELTS is one of the two major English-language tests in the world, the other being the TOEFL (or Test of English as a Foreign Language). Each year  a hundreds of thousands of people take an IELTS test because it helps them become skillful at listening, reading, writing and speaking. If you pass the IELTS test successfully, you will be able to it to immigrate or work abroad such as Australia, Canada or New Zealand or study at an international University in an English speaking country. 

When you go to take an IELTS test you have to choose between two versions of the test: Academic or General Training depending on their academic or professional aims.  Both academic IELTS test and general IELTS test have the same format: listening, reading, speaking, and writing Test.
